Energy efficiency enhancement in full-bridge PV inverters with advanced modulations

Transformerless single-phase inverters are preferring in residential grid-connected PV systems when compared to galvanic-isolated ones (i.e., transformer-based inverters). In addition the special leakage current issue, high efficiency, power quality and reactive injection of concern that should be considered applications. Nowadays, fast development wide-bandgap (WBG) devices brings new challenges transformerless inverters, e.g., electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues, but efficiency can improved. This paper first reviews full-bridge seen from perspective topology configuration. The oscillation during switching transitions is analyzed typical under a hybrid modulation method, which has significant relationship with EMI issue. Then, loss distribution discussed reveal thermal performance scheme injection. Simulations carried out on prototype validate discussions strategy.
